*Photo Identification
All passengers on domestic flights must present valid photo identification at physical sales, check-in and boarding gates. Also, all passengers on regional and international flights must present a valid international passport and valid visa at physical sales, check-in and boarding gates.
*Check-in
Physical check-in begins 2 hours (on domestic flights), 3 hours (on regional flights) and 4 hours (on international flights) prior to the scheduled departure and closes 30 minutes (on domestic flights), 60 minutes (on regional flights) and 75 minutes (on international flights) before scheduled departure. Boarding on domestic flights closes 15 minutes before departure while boarding on regional and international flights closes 20 minutes before departure.
*Fees
All fees charged are in accordance with the tariff rules in the country of sale.
*Baggage Policy
(1) Checked-in Baggage Allowance
(a) Baggage Allowance on Domestic Flights: 20kg in Economy Class and 40kg in Business. Baggage in excess of the specified weight is subject to a charge of N500 per kilogram to be paid at the Airport.
Baggage Allowance on Regional Flights: 30kg in Economy Class and 40kg in Business. Baggage in excess of the specified weight is subject to a charge of $3 per kilogram to be paid at the Airport.
Baggage Allowance on International Flights: 3 piece of 23kg in Economy Class and 32kg in Business/First Class. Baggage in excess of the specified weight is subject to a charge of $100 per bag to be paid at the Airport.
Infants pay 10% of the adult ticket fare on all classes and are entitled to a maximum of 10kg of luggage in either Economy class or Business Class. Infant luggage can be checked-in or used as carry on Cabin baggage.
(b) With allowed luggage as well as excess luggage, if the luggage cannot be carried on the same flight with you due to weight restrictions bordering on safety, it will be transported on the next available flight.
(2) Cabin Baggage
An adult or child passenger is allowed to carry only one piece of hand luggage weighing not more than 6kg in economy class and 10kg in business class (on domestic and regional flights) with size not exceeding 45x33x20 cm in addition to a carry-on purse or handbag or laptop. For international flights, allowable hand luggage shall be 7kg a small handbag for economy class and 14kg a small handbag for first and business class.
(3) Items Unacceptable as Baggage.
(a) The passengers shall not include in their baggage items which are likely to endanger the aircraft or persons or property on board the aircraft, such as explosives, compressed gases, corrosives, oxidizing radio-active or magnetized materials, materials that are easily ignited, poisonous, offensive or irritating substances, liquids (to the allowable volume), or those specified in the Dangerous Goods Regulations of the International Civil Aviation Organisation (ICAO) and the International Air Transport Association (IATA) items, the carriage of which is prohibited by the applicable laws, regulations or orders of any state to be flown from, to, or over; items which in the opinion of United Nigeria are unsuitable for carriage by reason of their weight, size or character, such as fragile or perishable items.
(b) If a passenger is in possession of, or, if the baggage includes any arms and/or munitions, he shall present them to United Nigeria for inspection prior to commencement of carriage. If United Nigeria accepts such items for carriage it may require them to be delivered to, and remain, in its custody until the passenger arrives at the airport building of his destination.
(c) Passengers shall not include in checked baggage perishable or fragile objects like jewellery, precious metals and silverware, negotiable papers, securities or other valuables, business documents, passports and other identification documents, samples, medicines or drugs. Passengers are expected to carry their valuables on board the aircraft as carry-on-baggage. United Nigeria WILL not accept responsibility for the following articles if contained in checked-in baggage, unless it is declared.
* Fragile objects (including Camera, laptops, cell phones, glassware, etc)
* Perishables (includes any item which has the propensity to decay when left in the bag)
* Cash
* Jewelries
* Negotiable Instruments
* Share Certificates/Medication
* Unique or High Value items (including designer wears, paintings, perfumes and irreplaceable items). United Nigeria Airlines is not liable for loss, damage or delay in delivery of high-value, fragile or perishable items.
(4) Right To Refuse Carriage
(a) United Nigeria reserves the right to refuse carriage, as baggage, of prohibited items described above and may refuse further carriage of any such items on discovery thereof.
(b) United Nigeria may refuse to carry as baggage any item because of its size, shape, weight or character.
(c) Unless advance arrangement for carriage was made with United Nigeria, United Nigeria may carry on later flights, baggage which is in excess of the applicable free allowance.
(d) United Nigeria may also refuse to accept baggage as checked baggage unless it is properly packed in suitcases or other similar containers to ensure safe carriage with ordinary care in handling.
(e) For reasons of safety and security, United Nigeria may request the passenger to permit a search to be made of his person and his baggage, and may search or have searched the passenger’s baggage in his absence if the passenger is not available, for the purpose of determining whether he is in possession of, or, whether his baggage contains any item described in 3(a) above or any arms or munitions which was not declared to United Nigeria in accordance with Paragraph 3(b) above. If the passenger is unwilling to comply with such request, United Nigeria reserves the right to refuse to carry the passenger or the baggage.
(5) Passengers with wheelchair or assisted devices
(a) United Nigeria accepts motorised and non-motorised wheelchairs and assists devices for transport. However, there are some restrictions on size and weight that you should discuss with United Nigeria at the time of booking.
(b) United Nigeria provides storage for one passenger’s collapsible, manual wheelchair in the aircraft cargo hold on United Nigeria aircraft on a first-come first-served basis, if you request for pre-boarding assistance at the departure gate. Wheelchairs or assists devices that are too large or heavy to be accommodated in the aircraft cabin will be carried in the hold.
(c) Non-collapsible wheelchairs, electric wheelchairs, and power scooters are accepted as checked baggage. These items can be checked at the main check-in counter.
(d) If you travel with a battery-powered wheelchair or other mobility aid, certain safeguards must be taken before you travel. Please provide United Nigeria with at least 48 hours advance notice of your requirement and advice on the dimensions and weight, and the type of battery used for your equipment. Also, be sure to check in at the airport at least one hour ahead of scheduled check-in time. This is to enable United Nigeria to ensure that your equipment is transported in accordance with all dangerous goods handling requirements.
(e) Medical equipment and up to two assists devices which are approved for transportation in cabin do not count towards the number of carry-on baggage a passenger is allowed free of charge.
(f) Canes/crutches must be stowed under your seat prior to take-off and landing. The cane or crutches must lie flat on the floor and should not block emergency exits or protrude into the aisle.
(6) Damaged Luggage/Items
In the course of normal handling, your baggage may show evidence of use. United Nigeria is however NOT liable for destruction, loss or damage that results from an inherent defect, quality or vice of the baggage. United Nigeria will also not be liable for conditions that result from normal wear and tear such as minor cuts, scratches, scuffs, dents and soil including”
* Damage to wheels, feet, extending handles and items of fragile or perishable nature
* Damage as a result of over-packed bags
* Loss of external locks, pull straps, security straps, or zipper tabs
* Manufacturer’s defects
(7) Lost Luggage/Items
Compensation for lost luggage is limited to 20USD per kilogram.
Important Notices: Air Transportation
If the passenger’s journey involves an ultimate destination or stop in a country other than the country of departure, the Warsaw Convention or the Montreal Convention may be applicable and each of those conventions govern, and in most cases limit, the liability of the United Nigeria for death and personal injury and in respect of loss of or damage to baggage. If your carriage is wholly within Nigeria and does not form part of international carriage for the purpose of those Conventions then, by virtue of local law, the provisions of the limits of liability specified in the Montreal Convention will apply in respect of loss of, or, damage to baggage. All carriage (and other services) performed by United Nigeria (or by any other operator on its behalf) is subject to United Nigeria’s Conditions of Contract and Conditions of Carriage and related Regulations.
Important Notices: Non-Air Transportation And/Or Services
Where this coupon is issued for transportation or other services than air travel, specific terms and conditions may apply. These terms and conditions may be included in the ticket set or may be obtained from the issuing company or agent.
*Passengers and Baggage
Passengers must ensure that their baggage is locked with names and addresses placed outside and inside of baggage.
*Valuables
Valuables as well as medicine should be carried with passengers on board.
*Pregnant Women
Pregnant women are required to present a medical report certifying them fit to fly while pregnancy carriage limit on United Nigeria flights is 28 weeks.
*Infants
Infants pay 10% of the adult ticket fare in all classes. However, there are instances where children have been booked as infants. To curb this, you may be asked to prove the age of your infant. If not satisfactorily proven, boarding will not be allowed.
*Cancellation of Reservations
Passengers are required to cancel reservations whenever there is a change of plans as failure to do so may result in cancellation of the return Journey.
*Fragile Goods
United Nigeria assumes no liability for fragile, undeclared valuables or perishable items, including camera, cash and jewelry.
*Ticket Validity
Full fare Paid Tickets are valid for 1 year but subject to modification fees if booked flights are not cancelled before date of departure.
*Ticket Refund
All voluntary ticket refund requests will be honoured less 25% of the original ticket fare. Refunds for tickets are also subject to United Nigeria policy with a minimum waiting period of two weeks unless there is a flight cancellation at time of travel. Economy Non- Flexi tickets are Non Refundable.
*Change of Flight Date
The destination, flight dates and times are changeable up to 2 hours before schedule departure upon payment of a modification fee and any difference in fare at the time the change is made. If the available fare is lower on the new flight, no refund will be made.
